Milan, Italy, February 8, 2026: The President of the Philippine Olympic Committee, Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, says his tropical country’s presence in the Winter Olympics is causing quite a stir.

The Philippines are represented by two athletes, Francis Ceccarelli and Tallulah Proulx, both in alpine skiing, at Milano Cortina 2026 – and the POC President is proud of the interest shown in his team.

“We are deeply honored to receive accolades from distinguished political and sporting figures worldwide regarding the Philippines' participation in the Winter Olympics,” Tolentino said in a social media post.

“It is gratifying to see the efforts of Filipino athletes recognized by global icons, including Hungarian President Tamás Sulyok and NBA legend Pau Gasol. Their support validates the significance of our nation’s presence on the winter stage.”

He added that Philippine pins were among the most coveted collectibles at the Games.

“Even the Lithuanian ice dancing duo of Allison Reed and Saulius Ambrulevicius are in the hunt for our pins. Fortunately for them, they approached with a few more left in our stocks,” said the POC President.
