Hong Kong, China delegation gears up for Winter Olympics
Hong Kong, China, February 3, 2026: The Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China hosted the flag presentation ceremony for the team heading for the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics at Olympic House on February 2.
 
Rosanna Law, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, officiated at the ceremony. Accompanied by Carmelo Ficarra, Consul-General of Italy in Hong Kong, Law presented the regional flag of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to Edgar Yang, Honorary Secretary General of SF&OC, and Wong Po Kee, Honorary Deputy Secretary General of SF&OC and Chef de Mission.
 
In recent years, the initiative of engaging 300 million people in winter sports has been actively promoted in the Chinese mainland. Guided by this national policy, SF&OC has been committed to enhancing talent development, competition support and collaboration to drive the growth of winter sports.
 
Edgar Yang said: “The outstanding performance of our ice hockey and curling teams in the 2025 Harbin Asian Winter Games has redefined the perception of Hong Kong, a ‘snowless city’, in winter sports.
 
“This Olympic Winter Games is a testament to our active participation in and integration with the national blueprint for winter sports development. I look forward to seeing our athletes give their best, embrace the opportunity to compete with the world’s top athletes and gain invaluable experience that will broaden their horizons.”
 
Hong Kong, China will send a delegation of 13 members, including four athletes, to compete in alpine skiing and short track speed skating. This marks Hong Kong’s largest Winter Olympics delegation in history.
