Philippines NOC President Tolentino extends “warmest congratulations” to World Boxing chief Golovkin

Manila, Philippines, January 29, 2026: The President of the Philippines Olympic Committee, Abraham ‘Bambol’ Tolentino, has extended his sincere congratulations to his Kazakhstan counterpart Gennadiy Golovkin on being elected as President of World Boxing.

 

Tolentino who met Golovkin during the 46th OCA General Assembly in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, earlier this week, said: “I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to my friend and long-time Olympic Council of Asia partner, Gennadiy Golovkin, on his new leadership role as president of World Boxing.”

 

In a post on the POC Facebook page, Tolentino continued: “His legendary experience as a unified middleweight champion – holding the WBA, IBF, and WBC belts – will be invaluable in furthering the development of the sport across our continent.

 

“Not to mention, his conquest of the super middleweight division, as an undisputed world champion in 2022.

 

“As the current President of the Kazakhstan Olympic Committee, Gennadiy is a vital ally, and it is always a privilege to collaborate with him during our OCA meetings,” Tolentino added.
