Sanya, China, January 19, 2026: Li Xuanliang, Director of the Sanya 2026 Asian Beach Games Organising Committee (SABGOC) Publicity Department, extended a warm welcome to delegates attending the 6th Asian Beach Games Sanya 2026 World Press Briefing & World Broadcasters Meeting on Monday, January 19.
A total of 139 delegates – 81 Press and 58 Broadcasters both local and international – are attending the January 18 – 20 Meetings in Sanya. In addition representatives from 13 Asian National Olympic Committees are also participating, onsite and online.
“On behalf of the Organising Committee, I extend our warmest welcome and most sincere gratitude to domestic and international media friends and broadcasting partners who have travelled from afar. Thank you for crossing mountains and seas to join us in fulfilling this Asian rendezvous of ‘beach and dreams’, said Li, who is also the Deputy Director of Hainan Provincial Publicity Department.
The 6th Asian Beach Games (ABG) from April 22 – 30, 2026 is being heralded by organisers as the ultimate stage for Asian beach sports athletes to pursue glory, as well as a “golden name card” that the Hainan Free Trade Port presents to the world.
“This April, the flame of the Asian Beach Games will be lit in Sanya, which will become the convergence point of Asian sporting spirit and the open vitality of the Free Trade Port – this is not only a sports spectacle, but also the first large-scale international comprehensive sports event following the island-wide independent customs operation of Hainan,” Li noted in his opening address.
Organisers are projecting the ABG as an important window to showcase the new framework of China’s reform and opening up and the new outlook of Hainan Free Trade Port – the country’s only Free Trade Port.
Li told delegates: “We hope through the window of the Asian Beach Games, the world will see a Hainan with higher levels of openness, a better business environment, and feel the resonance of China’s opportunities and Asia’s vitality.”
SABGOC has been preparing for these Games for a long time and are prepared. From the airport to hotels, from competition venues to scenic sites, a one-stop service network has been laid out to ensure every guest can feel the warmth of home.
“Dear friends, as the Asian Beach Games draw nearer, Hainan’s coconut breezes and sea charm has prepared a feast. Let us meet in Sanya this April to celebrate ‘sunshine, beach, endeavour, and friendship, and collectively witness the power of sports, the charm of the Free Trade Port, and the vitality of Asia,” Li added.
