Sichuan, China, January 18, 2026: The 3rd Asian Mixed Martial Arts Association Championships was successfully held at the Luzhou Olympic Park Stadium in Sichuan, China from January 9-11.
The event, which drew close to 200 athletes from 19 countries and regions, also served as official qualifiers for the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games and the Riyadh 2026 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.
Hosts China entered the largest squad – 23 athletes – in the competition which had 23 weight divisions in modern and traditional MMA formats across both men and women. MMA powerhouses Iran and Kazakhstan sent 20 and 19 athletes, respectively.
There were also strong contingents from India (14), Mongolia (14), Uzbekistan (13), and Indonesia (11). Other participating nations were Thailand (10), Vietnam (9), South Korea (8), Saudi Arabia (8), Chinese Taipei (11), Kyrgyzstan (7), Tajikistan (6), Cambodia (5), Jordan (5), Hong Kong China (3), Malaysia (3), and Singapore (1).
The 3rd AMMA Championships reinforces the vision of AMMA President Gordon Tang to establish MMA as a unified and recognised sport discipline within the Olympic Movement.
As the only MMA governing body recognised by the Olympic Council of Asia, AMMA organised the three-day competition to ensure a standardised, safe, and transparent path for athletes to earn their spot on the continental stage.
The second and final official qualifiers for the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games and the Riyadh AIMAG will take place in May, 2026, with details to be announced soon.
