Astana, Kazakhstan, January 18, 2026: Alimzhan Akayev, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan, met with a delegation from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Kazakh capital.
The meeting was attended by Ms. Cui Yinglan, Counsellor of the Embassy of China, and Zhang Tai, Attache.
The parties exchanged plans for 2026, discussed areas for further bilateral cooperation in the sports sector, and reviewed events held last year, including the Harbin Asian Winter Games. Particular attention was also paid to the organisation of the Asian Beach Games Sanya 2026, which will take place from April 22 – 30.
The Kazakhstan NOC Secretary General noted: “China possesses rich and diverse experience in hosting major international multi-sport events at the highest level. I am confident that the upcoming Asian Beach Games in Sanya will also be organised in accordance with the highest international standards and will become a significant event for the entire regional sporting community.”
During the meeting, the participants also considered issues of interaction between the sports authorities of the two countries, as well as the organisational and cultural aspects accompanying the hosting of international competitions.
Furthermore, the delegations exchanged views on a number of current and future initiatives and discussed cooperation plans for the near term, emphasising the importance of maintaining regular contact and constructive dialogue.
