Sri Lanka NOC sends four emerging sports leaders to 37th KSOC Olympic Academy in Seoul

Colombo, Sri Lanka, January 15, 2026: The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka marked a milestone in international sports education with the participation of a four member Sri Lankan delegation at the 37th Korean Sport and Olympic Committee (KSOC) Olympic Academy in Seoul and Yangpyeong, South Korea.

 

The KSOC Olympic Academy last December, extended beyond conventional learning, placing strong emphasis on solidarity, international exchange, and deeper engagement with the Olympic Movement.

 

The Sri Lankan delegation comprised a diverse group of emerging sports leaders. They were: Arumaikili Ravivarman, Executive Committee Member of the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation, Rukshan Athapaththu, captain of the Sri Lanka National Basketball team, Ashmita Gunaratne, Secretary of the Amateur Rowing Association of Sri Lanka, and Vimoshi Weerasinghe, an undergraduate from the University of Sri Jayawardenepura.

 

The KSOC Olympic Academy brought together 100 participants from across Asia and featured a series of engaging lectures and interactive sessions conducted by academics, Olympians and sports professionals.

 

Participants also took part in a ‘Live Olympic Legacy’ tour of the Taereung International Skating Rink and the Korean Sports Museum.

 

Sharing his experience, Raviraman stated that the Academy served as a powerful bridge between Korea’s rich sporting legacy and the digital future of the Olympic Movement.

 

Sri Lanka’s participation underscores the NOC’s continued commitment to developing knowledgeable, forward-thinking sports leaders and administrators who can contribute meaningfully to the advancement of the Olympic Movement and the long-term growth of sport in Sri Lanka.
