Iran NOC’s Women and Sport Commission meets for ninth time

Tehran, Iran, January 6, 2026: The Women and Sport Commission of the National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran held its ninth meeting at the Malek National Library and Museum in Tehran on Monday, January 5.

 

Soraya Aghaei, a member of the Athletes’ Commission of the International Olympic Committee, was among the attendees at the meeting where discussion focused on the participation of Iranian women at the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain and the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

 

Based on analysis by the Iranian NOC, women accounted for 41 percent of the medals won at the Riyadh Games, underlining the growing capacity and impact of women’s sport in Iran.

 

The meeting also discussed an introduction to Aghaei’s role and responsibilities within the IOC Athletes’ Commission, a report on the Women and Sport Commission’s online participation at an Olympic Council of Asia meeting, and a review of upcoming educational programmes, including the Olympic Young Ambassadors course.

 

The session concluded with a visit by commission members to the Malek Museum.
