Thailand’s medal-winning athletes at 33rd SEA Games rewarded with cash prizes

Bangkok, Thailand, December 31, 2025: Thailand’s medal-winning athletes at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games have received a massive cash windfall of 487,365,000 baht (US$15,452,282) from the Thai Government.

 

The hosts Thailand finished as overall champions of the SEA Games from December 9 – 20 winning a record-breaking 233 gold, 154 silver and 113 bronze medals.

 

Its athletes, coaches and sports associations were rewarded by the government-sponsored SEA Games prize scheme. 

 

A gold medallist received 300,000 baht (US$9,512), a silver medallist 150,000 baht (US$4,756) and a bronze medallist 75,000 baht (US$2,378).

 

The money was digitally transferred to the sports associations during the ceremony held at Huamark Indoor Stadium, the Sports Authority of Thailand, on Friday, December 26.

 

The rowing and canoeing association, which delivered 12 gold, nine silver, and five bronze medals, received the largest share of the bonus, totalling 36,832,500 baht (US$1,167,913).  

 

Minister of Tourism and Sports Atthakorn Sirilatthayakorn, who presided over the ceremony, said: “On behalf of the government and the Thai people, I would like to express my admiration for the athletes, coaches, sports associations, officials, and all those involved who participated in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, for the success of the Thai national team.”

 

He added: “I sincerely hope that the success and awards you have received today will serve as encouragement for you to further develop your abilities and I wish you all success in future competitions.”
