Kathmandu, Nepal, December 29, 2025: The Nepal Olympic Committee has announced the ‘Road to LA Olympic Games in 2028 – Olympic Athlete Scholarship Programme’ initiative, marking an important step in the country’s long-term elite athlete development pathway.
Under this programme, eight outstanding athletes, who are recognised as the best performers in their respective disciplines, have been selected and will receive monthly financial support to prepare for the LA 2028 Olympic Games.
Each athlete will receive a scholarship of US$1,125 per month which will go towards international competition, high-performance training and livelihood assistance.
The eight athletes are: Ms. Manita Shrestha Pradhan (judo), Prince Dahal (badminton), Ms. Evana Thapa (table tennis), Ms. Shivali Gurung (tennis), Ms. Usha Khanal (cycling), Tenzin Bertin Raj (sport climbing), Sadbhav Acharya (golf), Ervin Shrestha (swimming).
In addition to the LA28-focused scholarships, the Nepal Olympic Committee also announced scholarship programmes for the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, and the Dakar Youth Olympic Games.
Athletes picked for these two games will receive a monthly stipend of Nepali rupees 50,000 (US$348).
The athletes for Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games are: Ms. Arika Gurung and Ms. Sanumaya Thing (karate), Chandra Bahadur Thapa (boxing), Tilak Pun Magar (archery), Ms. Sushmita Tamang (wushu).
Dakar Youth Olympic Games: Ms. Rashmi Tamang (wushu).
