Muscat, Oman, December 24, 2025: HE Dr. Abdullah Khamis Ambusaidi, Vice-Chairman of the Oman Olympic Committee, received Luciano Rossi, President of International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF), along with his accompanying delegation during an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman this week.

The meeting discussed a number of topics related to the sport of shooting, including an overview of the current status of the sport both at local and international level.

The two sides also explored ways to enhance mutual cooperation between the OOC and the ISSF, with the aim of developing shooting sports, upgrading technical and administrative capacities, and supporting athlete development programmes.

Oman’s hosting of the Arab Championship for Air and Bullet Weapons, currently taking place with the participation of 14 countries, was also a topic of discussion. The ISSF President praised the high level of organisation and the efforts made to ensure the success of the championship.

Rossi said hosting such events reflects the advanced position Oman has attained regionally and internationally to hosting major sports events.

For his part Dr. Abdullah emphasised OOC’s strong commitment to supporting the sport of shooting, expanding its grassroots base, and continuing cooperation with the ISSF in a manner that serves the aspirations of Omani athletes and enhances their presence in international competitions.
