Malaysian NOC President Dr. Norza Zakaria takes over presidency of Southeast Asian Games Federation

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, December 23, 2025: Dr. Norza Zakaria, President of the Olympic Council of Malaysia, has officially taken over the presidency of the Southeast Asian Games Federation for 2025-2027.

 

Dr. Zakaria will now undertake the duties and responsibilities of leading the SEAGF for the organisation of the 34th SEA Games, which will be hosted by Malaysia in 2027.

 

The symbolic handover ceremony took place during the Closing Ceremony of the 33rd SEA Games at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand last Saturday, December 20.

 

“On behalf of NOC Malaysia, we undertake the organisation of the biennial SEA Games in Malaysia in 2027 with full responsibility and strong commitment to upholding the Olympic Movement in Southeast Asia, guided by the SEAGF Charter and Rules,” said Dr. Zakaria, who is also the Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia for Southeast Asian zone.

 

“Together with the Federal Government of Malaysia, the State Government of Sarawak, Penang and Johor, as well as the Malaysian SEA Games Organising Committee (MASOC), we are committed to delivering yet another spectacular SEA Games in less than two years, on September 18, 2027,” Dr. Zakaria added.
