All over the world, representatives of the health sector are on the front line in the fight against the global pandemic, risking their own lives and health to help everyone else.
Following colleagues from Italy and Russia, Kazakhstani athletes - active athletes and sports veterans, including Olympic champions and medalists, world champions and winners of the most prestigious world tournaments in Olympic sports - joined the global campaign of gratitude.
On behalf of the country's sports community, #teamKZwithYOU was represented by: Alexander Vinokourov (cycling), Olga Rypakova (track and field), Dmitriy Balandin (swimming), Yeldos Smetov (judo), Nurbakhit Tenizbayev (Greco-Roman wrestling), Yuliya Galysheva (freestyle moguls), Marina Volnova (boxing), Askhat Dilmukhamedov and Khorlan Zhakansha (Greco-Roman wrestling), Ilfat Abdullin (archery), Zhansay Smagulov and Yerlan Serikzhanov (judo), Alisher Yergali (freestyle wrestling), Nariman Kurbanov (artistic gymnastics), Zhanbotta Aldabergenova (freestyle acrobatics), Miras Aubakirov (water polo), Smaiyl Duisebay (taekwondo), Ablaikhan Zhussupov and Kamshybek Kunkabayev (boxing), Zhamila Bakbergenova (women's wrestling), Abzal Azhgaliyev (short track), Sofya Berultseva (karate) and sisters Alexandra and Yekaterina Nemich (artistic swimming).
“Athletes say that today they are not the strongest, bravest or the best; they are not the ones who give hope today; they are not the ones who motivate and are record breakers. They say that the real heroes are doctors - all those in intensive care, in laboratories, in ambulances - saving lives today,” Kazakhstan NOC said in statement.
