Bangkok, Thailand, December 15, 2025: It was heartache for Hidilyn Diaz-Naranjo, the Tokyo 2020 weightlifting champion, at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand.

The Philippines weightlifter was unable to add a sixth career medal at the Southeast Asian Games, as she finished fourth in the women’s 58 kg event in Chonburi on Sunday, December 14.

Instead the gold medal glory went to Thailand’s Suratwadee Yodsarn, the 22-year-old storming to victory with a final score of 224 kg. The silver medal was won by Indonesian Natasya Beteyob, while Thi Tham Quang of Vietnam won the bronze.

“I feel sorry, but at the same time this is my best for now,” Hidilyn told Olympics.com. “I did my best for the Philippines, and I’m happy to represent the Philippines.”

Hidilyn was participating in her first international competition since 2024, as she was coming back from injury.
