Japanese Ambassador to Oman among VIPs at Muscat Fun Run for 2026 Asian Games

Muscat, Oman, December 12, 2025: The Japanese Ambassador to Oman, HE Kiyoshi Serizawa, and the Chairman of the Muscat Municipality, HE Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Humaidi, were among the dignitaries who attended the 2026 Asian Games Fun Run in Al Khuwair Square in the capital Muscat on Thursday, December 11.

 

Over 600 participants from local schools in the Omani capital, the Muscat University and a special community for Down Syndrome, took part in the event to herald the 20th Asian Games to be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan from September 19-October 4, 2026.

 

Ambassador Serizawa, who has been actively promoting Japan-Oman in areas like culture, trade, karate and green hydrogen, was an enthusiastic participant in the Fun Run which was the 12th overseas stop organised by the OCA and the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games Organising Committee to promote and raise awareness of the Asian Games among local communities.

 

Among the leading Oman Olympic Committee officials were Eng. Khalfan Saleh Al Naabi, OOC Board Member and Chairman of Oman Sports and Active Society, and Abdullah bin Mohammed Bamakhalef, OOC Secretary General.

 

The Fun Run, held over distances of two kilometres and 5 kms, was sponsored by Muscat Pharmacy which provided participants with Pocari Sweat Ion Supply Drink, who also long-time Asian Games’ sponsors doe 2014 Incheon and 2018 Jakarta and Palembang.

 

Also attending the Fun Run were AINAGOC’s Director of PR and Media Fumihito Kanaizuka, and OCA Director of Media and Broadcasting Jeans Zhou Jian.

 

Along with the Fun Run, a children’s art competition was also held by the OOC to mark the Asian Games next year.
