Taipei, Chinese Taipei, December 10, 2025: The Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee (CTOC) has elected Vice President Tsai Chia-fu as its new President in an uncontested vote last Saturday, December 6.

Tsai will take office on January 1, 2026, and will replace Eric Lin Hong-dow, who is stepping down after leading the CTOC for 12 years.

The committee also chose six new vice presidents, including Chen Meiyan, who will be the first woman to serve in the role, and 18 executive board members, according to a statement from the CTOC.

Speaking to local media after his election, Tsai said he will represent CTOC at the OCA General Assembly in Tashkent, Uzbekistan next month.

Highlights of the election include:

·        A significant increase in athlete representation: active and retired athletes make up 31 percent of all committee members.

·        An important step forward for gender equality: the first female vice president in CTOC history, Chen Meiyan, will raise the proportion of women on the executive committee to 24 percent.

·        More diverse professional backgrounds joined: the involvement of academics and sports science experts strengthens the Olympic Games’ influence in education and international outreach.

The CTOC is currently making all necessary preparations for Chinese Taipei athletes to participate in the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Italy in February, as well as the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games in Japan in September.
