TBS Television comes on board as Official Broadcaster for Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games

Nagoya, Japan, December4, 2025: Tokyo Broadcasting System Television Inc. (TBS), one of the leading commercial broadcasters in Japan will broadcast live the 20th Asian Games to be held in Aichi-Nagoya from September 19 to October 4, 2026.

The Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games Organising Committee announced on Thursday, December 4, that TBS Television, a major nationwide commercial TV network in Japan has come on board as the official broadcasters of the 2026 Asian Games.

“We are pleased to announce that TBS Television will broadcast the Asian Games live. From today, they will begin promoting the event across their TV channels as well as their digital platforms and social media,” said a spokesman for AINAGOC.

This will be the first Asian Games hosted in Japan since the Hiroshima Games in 1994 – a span of 32 years – and organisers are excited at the prospect of unearthing new Japanese talent as has happened in the past.

“At past Asian Games, Japan has seen the rise of numerous global stars like Ryoko Tamura (women’s judo gold medallist in Hiroshima), Naoko Takahashi (women’s marathon gold medallist at 1998 Bangkok Games), and Kosuke Kitajima (men’s 200m breaststroke gold medallist at 2002 Busan Games). They all later went on to become Olympic champions,” AINAGOC stated.

The next wave of Japanese stars will shine in Aichi-Nagoya, and TBS is excited they will be in the vanguard of promoting and publicising these athletes.

The race for gold in the medal standings will also be a major drawcard for TV viewers. At the last Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, Japan finished second to the hosts winning a total of 188 medals – 52 gold, 67 silver, and 69 bronze.

“With 41 sports and 460 events, and with all 45 National Olympic Committees from across Asia expected to participate, the competition will be intense at the Aichi-Nagoya Games. The outstanding performances of Japan’s national team athletes will be a major highlight,” AINAGOC added.
