Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, November 24, 2025: Uzbekistan underlined its growing reputation as a sporting power when it finished second at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games Riyadh 2025 which ended in the Saudi capital on Friday, November 21.
Turkey topped the medal standings with a massive 155 medals including 72 gold, 44 silver and 39 bronze. Uzbekistan grabbed second place with 96 medals – 29-35-32.
Uzbekistan had also finished runner-up at the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain last month.
Iran ended in third place in Riyadh, matching Uzbekistan in the gold medal tally with 29, but overall won 81 medals, 15 adrift of Uzbekistan.
Hosts Saudi Arabia finished in a commendable fourth position with 57 medals including 18 gold, 12 silver and 27 bronze.
The event brought together more than 3,000 athletes from 57 nations, competing across 25 sports.
At the closing ceremony the flag of the Islamic Solidarity Games Association was ceremoniously handed over to Malaysia, the host country of the next Games in 2029.
