Thimphu, Bhutan, November 6, 2025: Boxer Sangay Pelden returned to school in Haa after proudly representing Bhutan at the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain.
She is the product of the Bhutan Olympic Committee’s ‘Sports in School Programme’ which was started a year ago.
The BOC posted: “A year ago, when the Sports in School Programme began, we planted small seeds of hope – dreams that one day, our young athletes would shine beyond classrooms and playgrounds. Today, those seeds are slowly beginning to bloom.
“We are filled with pride to see Sangay Pelden, a student from Chundu Armed Forces Public School, Haa, represent Bhutan at the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain as a boxer.
“As she returned to school, the heartfelt gesture of the institution – appreciating and felicitating her achievement – spoke volumes about encouragement, unity, and belief in nurturing young talent.”
The BOC stated that this was just the beginning of Pelden’s journey. “The journey ahead is long, but moments like this remind us that the future of Bhutanese sport is taking root – one dream at a time.”
