Astana, Kazakhstan, November 4, 2025: The President of the Kazakhstan National Olympic Committee, Gennadiy Golovkin, has announced his candidacy for President of the World Boxing Federation.

The election will take place on November 23, 2025, during the World Boxing Congress in Rome, Italy.

A legend of Olympic and professional boxing, Golovkin is a member of the IOC”S Olympism365 Commission. He also chaired the World Boxing Commission, where he helped secure provisional recognition of World Boxing by the IOC.

His vision for world boxing is built on four pillars:

·        Athletes First

·        Integrity

·        Innovation

·        Financial Stability and Development

In his Manifesto to all World Boxing federations, Golovkin said: “With your trust, I will work to secure boxing’s Olympic future, restore global confidence, and ensure that every federation, coach, and athlete – no matter how small or far away – has a fair chance to grow.

“Our mission for 2026 is clear: to achieve full Olympic recognition and to confirm our place at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles 2028 and Brisbane 2032.

“But beyond recognition lies a greater purpose – to rebuild our reputation as one united boxing family, guided by respect, transparency, and unity.”

Although his last professional fight took place three years ago, Golovkin remains a passionate advocate for boxing and sport development in Kazakhstan and abroad.

Elected President of Kazakhstan NOC in February 2024, Golovkin now dedicates his time to expanding opportunities for athletes across all disciplines.
