OCA’s busy Games calendar highlighted to world media in Nagoya

Nagoya, Japan, October 9, 2025: The Olympic Council of Asia’s busy sporting calendar over the next 12 months was highlighted to the world media at the start of the 1st World Press Briefing for the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games on Thursday, October 9.

Over 100 media from international and local news agencies and leading Japanese newspapers, as well as representatives from a number of Asian National Olympic Committees began the two-day meeting by viewing an OCA promotional video highlighting three major events, including the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games.

“The OCA is facing a very busy calendar within a year, including the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain within a fortnight, the 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China next April, and of course the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan from September 19 to October 4, 2026,” explained Jeans Zhou Jian, OCA Director of Media and Broadcast.

Welcoming the delegates on behalf of OCA Media Committee Chairman Faris Mustafa Al Kooheji, Secretary General of Bahrain Olympic Committee, Jeans Zhou underlined the key role Japan has played in the history of the Asian Games.

“Japan has a great history of hosting the OCA’s flagship event, including the 1958 Asian Games in Tokyo, the 1994 Asian Games in Hiroshima, three Asian Winter Games in Sapporo – 1986, 1990 and 2017 – and the Aomori Asian Winter Games in 2003.

“With this proud record, the OCA is confident that the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games is in safe hands, especially when it comes to media services and operations,” the OCA’s Media Director pointed out.

The World Press Briefing comes hot on the heels of the World Broadcasters Meeting which concluded on Wednesday, October 8, and will include competition venue visits on Friday.

“Our aim, as always, will be to provide the best media services for our sportswriters and photographers in order to make your work as smooth and efficient as possible,” Jeans noted.

He added: “With the 20th Asian Games just 345 days away, we would like to streamline our operations and services on offer with your input. We will cherish your feedback over the next two days as this will contribute to you producing stories that will resonate around Asia and the world during the Games.”
