Manama, Bahrain, October 6, 2025: An impressive line-up of 14 nations will compete in Pencak Silat which will make a much-anticipated debut at the 3rdAsian Youth Games Bahrain 2025 later this month.
The Indonesian martial art which will be featured for the first time at the Asian Youth Games will bring together young athletes from across the continent.
The 14 countries are: hosts Bahrain, Cambodia, Indonesia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
The competition for athletes aged between 14 and 17 years will feature three weight classes: Male 51-55kgs; Male 59-63kgs; and Female 51-55kgs.
The International Pencak Silat Federation said the inclusion of the sport at the October 22-31 showpiece represents a milestone moment for this ancient martial art.
The pencak silat competition will be held on October 19-20. A number of sports events will commence before the Opening Ceremony on October 22.
