Chinese Vice Minister of Sport Tong Lixin thanks World Aquatics and OCA for support

Beijing, China, September 26, 2025: World Aquatics President and Olympic Council of Asia Director General Husain Al Musallam met the Vice Minister of the General Administration of Sport of China (GASC) 

Tong Lixin at the GASC headquarters in Beijing on Thursday, September 25.

 

Tong expressed his appreciation to both World Aquatics and OCA for its continuous support in developing aquatic sports and the Olympic Movement in China.

 

The Vice Minister also pledged his support for the upcoming Sanya Asian Beach Games from April 22-30, 2026.

 

“Congratulations to World Aquatics for its great success at the World Aquatics Championships, Singapore 2025. I would also like to thank World Aquatics for its great support to the China Swimming Association in developing the sport in China,” Tong said.

 

He added: “After successfully hosting the Harbin 2025 Asian Winter Games, China would like to work and help the Sanya Asian Beach Games Organising Committee for the 6th Asian Beach Games. The preparation for the games is progressing well and we are confident the games will be another great success.”

 

World Aquatics President Al Musallam gave an update on the World Aquatics Development Programme, as well as the different championships to be hosted by China in the future.

 

“World Aquatics Swimming Championships (25m) in 2026 and the World Aquatics Championships in 2029, will both be held in Beijing proving once again that China is a major partner of World Aquatics in developing aquatic sports in China,” Al Musallam noted.

 

The OCA Director General also thanked the Chinese Sports Authority for its support of the Olympic Movement in China, and gave an update and progress on OCA’s flagship event, the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games.
