Amman, Jordan, September 13, 2025: Two drawings by children afflicted with Down’s syndrome will be among the exhibits from Jordan on display at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games.
In a first for the Asian Games, a total of 11 children with Down’s syndrome were among the 166 participants in the Children’s Art Competition in the OCA ‘Asian Games for All’ initiative.
In his entry, Belal Alsa’adani, 24, had drawn the Jordanian flag, and a figure playing football, along with the Aichi-Nagoya logo.
Yasmin Wael, 12, had also featured the Aichi-Nagoya logo and the national flag in her drawing.
“It’s amazing the depth of detail – the fact that they had the Jordanian flag as well as the Asian Games logo – in their drawings. There were other more beautiful drawings, but without any reference to the Aichi-Nagoya Games. Well done to Belal and Yasmin,” said Jeans Jian Zhou, OCA Director of Media and Broadcasting.
An interested spectator of the drawings on show during Saturday’s Fun Run was the President of the Jordan Olympic Committee, HRH Prince Faisal bin Al Hussein.
JOC Secretary General Rana Al Saeed had said previously: “We are the first country in Asia to allow children with Down’s syndrome to participate in the Asian Games art competition.”
The efforts of Belal and Yasmin, among other drawings from compatriots, will be proudly on display at prominent venues during the September 19-October 4, 2026, Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya.
