Jordan NOC reveals dreams of hosting Asian Games in future

Amman, Jordan, September 12, 2025: The Jordan Olympic Committee has dreams of hosting the Asian Games one day according to JOC Secretary General Rana Al Saeed.

Addressing local media at a press conference to announce details for Saturday’s (September 13) Fun Run to promote the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, Al Saeed disclosed that the NOC held ambitions of hosting the continent’s biggest sporting show one day.

“We hope one day we can host the Asian Games. Right now, we are planning to host the Arab Games in 2035, but the Asian Games will be a much bigger event,” Al Saeed told Jordanian media.

The Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in Japan from September 19 to October 4, 2026, will feature 15,000 athletes and officials from 45 Asian NOCs.

Following next year’s showpiece, Asia’s premier multi-sports event has already locked in host cities for 2030 (Doha, Qatar) and 2034 (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia). The next available dates are 2038.

For now, the JOC is just content on promoting other host cities of the Asian Games, and they have thrown their weight fully in backing the OCA’s ‘Asian Games for All’ campaign by holding all three segments – the Fun Run, children’s art competition and the Asian Youth Reporter project.

The Fun Run will feature more than 150 participants from schools, national sports federations, and athletes participating in a one and two-kilometre run at the Amman International Stadium.

“Children from all age groups will take part in the Fun Run which mainly conveys solidarity among all Asian countries, and that under the umbrella of the OCA, we are one in Asia,” Al Saeed said.

The JOC Secretary General outlined Jordan’s history at the Asian Games since debuting at the 1986 Seoul Games. “Since 1986, we have won 54 medals at the Asian Games, including five gold medals, 26 silver and 23 bronze. We are making progress, games by games,” she added.

Hiroshi Sakai, Director Sports Planning Section 1 of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games Organising Committee, in his speech, told the Jordanian media that everyone in Aichi-Nagoya was working hard to ensure the Asian Games is a success.

“Excitement is growing day by day and we are looking forward to welcoming all athletes and officials from across Asia. This is the third time Japan is hosting an Asian Games, following Tokyo (in 1958) and Hiroshima (in 1994).

“Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in 2026 will be a successful and memorable event,” Sakai added.
