Astana, Kazakhstan, September 3, 2025: Students from a number of schools in the Kazakh capital Astana mingled with a number of visiting athlete representatives at the 7th edition of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games Fun Run on Wednesday, September 3.
It was an early start for delegates from the 6th OCA/OS Athletes Forum, who joined the ‘Asian Games for All’ promotional campaign jointly organised by the OCA and the 20th Asian Games organising committee, AINAGOC, in Astana’s Central Park, a 104-hectare green space with a river flowing through it.
They were joined by more than 100 students and local Asian Games enthusiasts for the Fun Run which commenced at 8am local time.
“We all know the 20th Asian Games will be held in Nagoya next September and I would like to welcome all of you, along with your families, to Japan, as well as to follow and support the Games,” urged AINAGOC Acting Director General Nakamori Yasuhiro before the Fun Run commenced.
Also addressing participants were Wissam Trkmani, OCA Director of NOC Relations and Development Programmes, Nurlan Nogerbek, Kazakhstan NOC Director General, Nurlan Yessembaye, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Sports and Physical Culture of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.
The Astana Fun Run is the seventh Fun Run held to promote and raise awareness of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games following on from similar events in Bhutan, Tajikistan, Brunei, Uzbekistan, Mongolia and Lebanon all staged this year. There will be three more Fun Runs in September – Sri Lanka, Jordan and the Maldives.
The Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games will be held from September 19 to October 4, 2026 and will feature around 15,000 athletes and officials from all 45 Asian National Olympic Committees. They will compete in 41 sports.
