Kazakhstan organisers give a warm welcome to athlete representatives from Asia

Astana, Kazakhstan, September 2, 2025: An effusive and warm welcome was showered on delegates attending the 6th OCA/OS Athletes Forum by hosts Kazakhstan at the opening ceremony on Tuesday, September 2.

Nurlan Nogerbek, Director General of the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan, and Ruslan Yessenalin, Chairman of the Committee for Sports and Physical Culture of the Ministry of Tourism and Sport warmly greeted athlete representatives from 42 Asian NOCs to Astana and hoped the two days of meetings would be productive.

“It is a great honour for Kazakhstan to host you all for this important Forum. As an Olympian himself, our President Mr. (Gennadiy) Golovkin sends you all his warmest greetings,” stated NOC Director General Nogerbek.

Addressing the delegates, Nogerbek continued: “You are the heart of the Games. Your hard work motivates all of us. Your voice is the most important one here.”

Compatriot Yessenalin said: “This Forum is your platform. In the next two days, all discussion will be focused on you and your future out of competition. This is more than just talk, we are here to listen to you so we can turn your ideas into action.

“Let us work together to make this happen. Let’s create a strong legacy. Please use this time to speak openly and connect with each other,” Yessenalin added.

Thanking the OCA and IOC for the partnership and guidance, both senior officials urged delegates to take the opportunity to also get a taste of Kazakhstan – with a series of cultural visits having been organised.

“Have a great Forum and enjoy your time in Astana,” Nogerbek added.
