OCA Coordination Committee assured organisers “working-round-the-clock” to make Bahrain AYG a success

Manama, Bahrain, August 27, 2025: The Bahrain Olympic Committee hosted the 2nd Coordination Committee Meeting of the 3rd Asian Youth Games at the Art Hotel and Resort in Amwaj Island, Muharraq Governorate on Wednesday, August 27.

 

The OCA Coordination Committee for the Bahrain AYG, chaired by Tayyab Ikram, President of the International Hockey Federation, met with the organising committee BAYGOC during which all facets of the October 22-31 showpiece were discussed.

 

Also on the OCA team was Deputy Director General Vinod Kumar Tiwari, Vice President Dr. Thani Abdulrahman Al Kuwari, Jeevan Ram Shrestha, President of the Nepal Olympic Committee, Muhammad Khalid Mahmood, Secretary General of the Pakistan Olympic Association, among others. 

  

BAYGOC was led by BOC Secretary General Faris Mustafa Al-Kooheji who informed the meeting that his team was “working round-the-clock” to make the Games a resounding success.

 

“We are very happy to have you (OCA team) here and we value your feedback. Only with your feedback and guidance can we have a successful Games,” Al-Kooheji said in his opening remarks.

 

Bahrain came in as a last-minute replacement after Uzbekistan had pulled out of hosting the event.

 

Tayyab Ikram, acknowledging this fact, said: “In a short time you have taken responsibility, and demonstrated that you are capable of hosting unique Games. 

 

“What is most important to us is that the Games are sustainable, it engages society, and what the legacy of these Games will be. These three aspects are what we like to see done,” Ikram noted.

 

Organisers revealed a number of interesting details and key dates, among them:

·        Entry by Number of athletes: 5,573

·        Draw for Team Sports on September 8

·        2nd Technical Delegates’ meeting on September 9-11

·        Technical Handbook final version to be released on September 25 

 

Among the other areas discussed were: Sports programme; Accreditation and visa process; Transportation; Accommodation for athletes, officials and VIPs; Protocol; Volunteers; Safeguarding; Medical and Anti-doping; IT and Ticketing.

 

The branding of the games – a logo, mascots and slogan – was also looking into in detail.
