Tashkent, Uzbekistan, August 21, 2025: Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President of Uzbekistan, visited the newly-built National Football Centre in the Yukoro Chirchik District on Monday, August 18.
Mirziyoyev, who is also the President of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan, got acquainted with the conditions at the centre which can accommodate training for six national teams at the same time.
Four structures have been established in the complex to train professional footballers. These are the Football Specialists Training and Research Centre, the Football National Teams Training Centre, the Republican Football Academy, and the Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Centre.
The modern facilities include football pitches, stadiums, indoor training areas, gyms, and a hotel. Additional amenities are a beach soccer field, a futsal arena, swimming pools and a rehabilitation department.
The Head of State spoke with sports veterans and young footballers. It was emphasised that football is the most popular sport in the country.
Uzbekistan has reached the FIFA World Cup finals for the first time, as well as the U-17 national team qualifying for the finals of the age group World Cup.
“We strive to take a worthy place in the world in all areas. Our athletes can achieve this faster. With your strong-willed victory, you have proven once again that our people are capable of anything if they work and strive,” President Mirziyoyev said.
“The whole world saw in your image a new generation of Uzbekistan that is determined, proud, and never gives up on its aspirations. Now we support football two, three times more,” he added.
The athletes expressed gratitude to the President for the new facilities and promised to justify the trust of the people.
