Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, August 20, 2025: The Olympic Council of Malaysia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong China, aimed at fostering sporting ties between the two NOCs.

The MOU was signed on Tuesday, August 19, at the OCM Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur on the sidelines of a five-day visit by a Hong Kong delegation – 30 youth and six officials - on an overseas exchange programme.

The Hong Kong delegation was led by NOC Vice President Kenneth Fok. They were warmly welcomed by Dr. Norza Zakaria, President of OCM Malaysia and Vice President of Olympic Council of Asia together with Dr. Chong Kam Fatt, OCM Vice President, and Ms. Moira Tan Siew See, OCM Assistant Secretary General.

In his welcome remarks, Dr. Zakaria expressed his deepest appreciation to Hong Kong NOC for initiating the signing of the MOU with Malaysia NOC during this cultural exchange programme.

“This important step is a reflection of the trust, respect, and friendship extended to us and we truly value and appreciate this gesture,” the OCM President said.

“As the OCA Vice President responsible for the Southeast Asia Zone, I find it particularly meaningful that my counterpart in the East Asia Zone is the Hon. Timothy Fok, the father of Kenneth Fok. This symbolic connection makes this MOU even more historic and significant,” Dr. Zakaria added.

Kenneth Fok said: “I am optimistic that closer collaboration between our two NOCs will not only create greater opportunities for youth exchange but also foster stronger bilateral cooperation advancing the Olympic Movements in both NOCs.”

During the visit, the Hong Kong delegation was given an insightful introduction to the Olympic Movement in Malaysia by Fong Wan Hor, General Manager of OCM Malaysia.

Also present at the ceremony were three distinguished Malaysian athletes Ang Li Peng (badminton, 2002 Commonwealth Games gold medallist), Ng Oly Shu Wai (gymnastics, 2006 Asian Games silver medallist), and Timmy Tan (tenpin bowling, 2014 & 2018 Asian Games silver medallist).
