Inaugural Mixed Martial Arts development programme in Bahrain attracts 30 Asian NOCs

Kuwait City, Kuwait, August 18, 2025: The inaugural OCA-AMMA Development Programme for Mixed Martial Arts coaches and referees in Bahrain this month has drawn a favourable response with 30 Asian National Olympic Committees signing up.

 

At the end of the deadline for registration for the August 25-27 seminar in Manama, a total of 107 participants had enrolled. They comprise 56 coaches (17 females and 39 males) and 51 referees (15 females and 36 males).

 

A total of 11 instructors (five coaches and 6 referees) have also been appointed by the Asian Mixed Martial Arts Association to conduct the three-day programme at the Bahrain Conference Centre in the Crowne Plaza Hotel. 

 

“We are very pleased with the response for our first development programme in mixed martial arts which will help raise the skills, performance levels, knowledge and education of the coaches and referees,” said Wissam Trkmani, OCA Director NOC Relations & Development.

 

The 30 countries and regions are sending coaches and referees are: Afghanistan, Bhutan, Cambodia, Chinese-Taipei, Indonesia, Iraq, Iran, India, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Palestine, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Syria, Tajikistan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, and hosts Bahrain.  

 

In addition, the OCA will conduct the ‘Guarding of the Asian Games’ initiative focusing on anti-doping, safeguarding and the prevention of Competition Manipulation.
