Kuwait City, Kuwait, August 15, 2025: The Olympic Council of Asia has informed all Asian National Olympic Committees that as preparation for the Bahrain Asian Youth Games, a two-week Camel Racing Training Camp will be held in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, from October 3-17.
An invitation for the camel racing training camp has been issued by World Camelids Sports (WCS), who in collaboration with the Asian Camel Racing Federation (ACRF), will hold this crucial camp so that participants from Asia can prepare for the Bahrain AYG from October 22-31.
In a letter dated August 13, 2025, and addressed to OCA Director General Husain Al Musallam, the President of World Camelids Sports HH Prince Fahad Bin Jalawi Al Saud extended the invitation to Asian NOCs to send their athletes to the Abu Dhabi training camp.
Prince Fahad, who is also the Vice President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, thanked the OCA and the Asian Youth Games Organising Committee for including camel sports for the first time in the official programme of the Asian Youth Games.
“To support this inaugural competition, WCS in collaboration with ACRF is pleased to offer a dedicated Camel Racing Training Camp for participating youth athletes,” Prince Fahad wrote.
The ACRF will cover the full participation cost of four athletes (two boys and two girls) and two team coaches (one male and one female) from each NOC outside the Gulf region. Covered expenses will include airfare, training, accommodation, and local transportation throughout the camp period.
So far 12 NOCs have confirmed participation in the Camel Racing events at Bahrain AYG. They are: Iran, Iraq, India, Kuwait, Mongolia, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Yemen and hosts Bahrain.
The training camp from October 3-17 in Abu Dhabi is open to athletes born between January 1, 2007, and December 31, 2011. Upon completion of the camp, all participants will be transferred directly to Bahrain to compete in the AYG.
“This initiative underscores WCS’ commitment to fostering structured opportunities for youth development and to elevating the sporting and strategic profile of camel racing across the Asian continent,” Prince Fahad said.
The deadline for NOC’s to confirm their participation with WCS is September 10, 2025.
Prince Fahad added: “We are thankful for the full support of the OCA towards this initiative and for encouraging NOCs participation in both the training camps and the Games.”
NOCs have been asked to coordinate with Ms. Dana Hassan, training coordinator with WCS by email: dana@wcs-net.org.
