Hong Kong, China, August 6, 2025: Hong Kong, China athletes, coaches and support staff are heading for China for the opening ceremony of the World Games Chengdu 2025 on Thursday, August 7.
Mr. Wong Po Kee, Honorary Deputy Secretary General of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China and Chef de Mission said: “The World Games represents the highest level of international competition for non-Olympic sports.
“More than 20 athletes from Hong Kong, China have qualified to participate, which is a testament to the city’s exceptional sporting talent. Enjoying semi-home field advantage, our athletes are fully prepared and look forward to performing at their best against top athletes from around the world.
“I hope they can achieve outstanding results while gaining valuable experience and enjoying competing in Sichuan, the Land of Abundance. I call on the public to take this opportunity to learn more about the diverse sports featured in The World Games 2025 and show their support for our athletes.”
The World Games 2025 will take place from August 7-17, featuring more than 200 medal events across 34 sports disciplines.
Hong Kong athletes will compete in seven sports: air sports, billiards, karate, orienteering, squash, water skiing and wushu.
