Tashkent, Uzbekistan, August 5, 2025: The National Olympic Committees of Uzbekistan and Qatar have discussed increasing sporting relationships during a meeting held on the sidelines of the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore last week.
Uzbekistan NOC officials led by First Vice President Otabek Umarov and Secretary General Oybek Kasimov met with HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, and top of the agenda was developing multifaceted relations between the two NOCs in sports.
Sheikh Joaan emphasised the rapid development of sports in Uzbekistan underlined by the historic qualification of the national men’s football team to the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Plans were considered for having joint training camps to prepare national teams of both countries for major international events, and exchanging experience in improving technical skills.
It was decided that sporting relations between Uzbekistan and Qatar would be raised to a new and higher level.
