Ramallah, Palestine, August 3, 2025: Palestine representative Dr. Fatima Al-Faqiah was elected as a member of the Executive Board and Vice President of Asian Boxing at its General Assembly in Bangkok, Thailand on Saturday, August 2.
The Palestine National Olympic Committee posted that Dr. Al-Faqiah’s election represents a significant step towards strengthening Palestine’s presence within the continental boxing organisation in a prominent Olympic sport.
Thai Pichai Choonhavajira was elected unanimously as Chairman of the Asian Boxing Executive Board while Uzbekistan’s Sakin Bulatov was elected Vice Chairman.
Asian Boxing also considers Dr. Al-Faqiah’s election as Vice President as a symbol of the growing representation of women in sports governance.
The other elected Board of Directors are: Victorivo Vargas (Philippines), Han Bo (China), Ali Taklif (Iraq), Dordymamet Kuljaev (Turkmenistan), Muhammed Khalid Mahmood (Pakistan), Wu Mai Lung-hsin (Chinese Taipei), Firuz Bin Mohammed (Singapore), Tatsuya Nakama (Japan), Bayanmunkh Maidar (Mongolia) and Darkhan Kazaybayev (Kazakhstan).
