Baghdad, Iraq, July 30, 2025: The President of the National Olympic Committee of Iraq, Dr Aqeel Muften, took part in a felicitation ceremony for young boxers Banin Ali and Sajjad Ahmed Malik at the NOC headquarters on Monday, July 28.
Banin Ali won her gold medal in the Kost Nay International Boxing Championship in Kazakhstan last week, while Sajjad Malik bagged gold at the Asian U17 Boxing Championships in Jordan in May.
Praising both youngsters, Dr. Muften said: “We believe in the abilities of our young athletes, and Banin Ali and Sajjad Malik are great examples of perseverance and ambition. This is an important milestone in their careers and the NOC will continue to support them and all talented athletes that raise the name of Iraq high.”
Also attending the ceremony were the President and Vice President of the Iraqi Boxing Federation, Sedan Ali Taklif and Ali Abdul Zahra, respectively.
