Singapore, July 30, 2025: The Singapore National Olympic Council has described the visit of new IOC President Kirsty Coventry as a new chapter in Singapore’s Olympic journey.

Coventry visited Singapore to attend the World Aquatics Championships and meet with various international dignitaries, including World Aquatics President Husain Al Musallam and Singapore’s first Olympic champion, Joseph Schooling.

In a social media post, the Singapore NOC quoted Coventry as saying: “You have a huge supporter in me. My door is always open.”

The post went on: “In her first visit to Singapore as IOC President, Kirsty Coventry reaffirmed her commitment to deepening ties with our sporting community. Over her three-day visit, President Coventry:

*Called on President Tharman Shanmugaratnam

*Attended the World Aquatics Championships — the first hosted in Singapore

*Celebrated the 2025 inductees of the International Swimming Hall of Fame

*Had an orchid named in her honour — Dendrobium Kirsty Coventry — at the Botanic Gardens

*Took part in a Baobab tree dedication at Gardens by the Bay

*Met Olympians, Youth Olympians, partners and leaders at a luncheon hosted by SNOC.”

The post concluded: “Her visit marks a new chapter in Singapore’s Olympic journey — one built on partnership, inspiration and the shared belief that sport can change lives.

“Thank you, President Coventry, for spending these meaningful days with us.”
