Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, July 29, 2025: The Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, in cooperation with the Saudi Olympic Academy and the IOC, are holding a "Sports Safety" awareness programme for national athletes at the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Olympic Complex in Riyadh from July 29-31.
The three-day programme aims to promote awareness of safeguarding athletes, sports safety concepts, ensure safe and professional sporting environments, the tasks of safeguarding officials, competition safety and implementation of safe policies in sport.
A team of international experts will conduct the programme, among them Mrs. Aya Medany, who represented Egypt in modern pentathlon in three Olympic Games, and is now an IOC Member; Jordanian Zaid Sami, an IOC-certified coach in sports safety; and Spain’s Gloria Visera, a former gymnast who competed at the 1980 Olympics and is now a member of the IOC Safe Sport Unit.
Also taking part will be SOPC’s safeguarding officers Modi Al-Sediri and Mohamed Salim.
