Astana, Kazakhstan, July 28, 2025: Nico Schermers, Ambassador of the Netherlands in Kazakhstan, met with Alimzhan Akayev, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan, in Astana last week.
The meeting focused on expanding international cooperation within the Olympic Movement. Both sides discussed opportunities for knowledge exchange between sports professionals, the organisation of joint training camps and participation in upcoming sports events in Kazakhstan.
Ambassador Schermers expressed interest in developing bilateral cooperation, in particular supporting and promoting key summer and winter Olympic sports that are being advanced in Kazakhstan.
NOC Secretary General Akayev said: “We highly value the Netherlands’ commitment to building strong partnerships in the sport sector. We believe this cooperation will help strengthen Olympic values and create new opportunities for both athletes and coaches in our countries.”
