Singapore, July 26, 2025: China jumped to the top of the early leaderboard at the World Aquatics Championships Singapore 2025 on Friday, July 25 by picking up their fourth gold medal in artistic swimming.

On the last day of competition in artistic swimming, China won the team acrobatic title to add to earlier golden performances in women’s solo technical through 19-year-old Xu Huiyan, team free and team technical.

China’s four gold medals to date, backed by three silvers, put them on top of the medal rankings, ahead of Spain (4-2-5) and Germany (4-0-0).

Performing a routine titled "Soul of the Terracotta Army", China scored 229.0186 points to win team acrobatic gold, 4.2895 points ahead of Neutral Athletes B with 224.7291. Spain finished third with 221.0962, 7.9224 points behind China.

Team acrobatic gold completed a clean sweep of the three team titles on offer in artistic swimming.

“Although we won three gold medals in the team events, I don't think that means we're absolutely dominant," China's head coach, Zhang Xiaohuan, told Xinhua News.

"We're still in the process of exploration. We're also learning from our competitors. There is, in fact, a lot of confusion and anxiety throughout this journey."

The coach added: "Deep down, I have greater expectations in the new Olympic cycle and with the new lineup. I believe this World Championships still marked a significant breakthrough for us - the gold medal in the women's solo event was the first in our history, something we had never achieved before.”

The 22nd World Aquatics Championships Singapore 2025 run from July 11 to August 3 and features all six disciplines: swimming, open water, diving, high diving, artistic swimming and water polo.
