Hong Kong, China, July 22, 2025: The Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China hosted the flag presentation ceremony for the delegation heading to The World Games in Chengdu, China on Monday, July 21.
This will mark the first time China has hosted the event, featuring non-Olympic sports, and Hong Kong will send a 40-strong delegation to the 12th edition of The World Games, which will take place from August 7-17.
Miss Rosanna Law, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Mr. Wang Songmiao, Secretary General of the Department of Publicity, Cultural and Sports Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), officiated at the ceremony.
Miss Law presented the regional flag of the HKSAR to Mr. Timothy Fok, President of SF&OC, Mr. Edgar Yang, Honorary Secretary General of SF&OC, Mr. Wong Po Kee, Honorary Deputy Secretary General of SF&OC and Chef de Mission, and other delegation members.
Mr. Timothy Fok said: “The World Games complements the Olympic Games and represents the highest level of international competition for non-Olympic sports. It provides a global stage for athletes from diverse disciplines.
“This edition of The World Games will be particularly meaningful as it will make its debut in our country by taking place in Chengdu. I hope our athletes will make the most of the Games at our home field, exchange skills with top competitors from around the world, gain valuable experience, build friendships and showcase Hong Kong’s unique spirit of unity and teamwork to the world.”
The World Games, held every four years, will feature 34 sports disciplines, welcoming over 4,000 athletes from nearly 120 countries and regions.
Hong Kong, China will send a 40-member delegation to compete in eight sports: air sports, billiards, dancesport, karate, orienteering, squash, water skiing and wushu.
