Hong Kong, China, July 18, 2025: The Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Miss Rosanna Law, paid a courtesy visit to the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China HQ at Olympic House on Thursday, July 17.
The Minister met with Mr. Timothy Fok, President of SF&OC, and other Olympic Committee officers. The two sides had in-depth exchanges on various issues in relation to sports development.
Miss Law was accompanied by senior representatives from the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, including Mr. Raistlin Lau, Under Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Mr. George Tsoi, Commissioner for Sports.
During the meeting, Miss Law received an update by Mr. Edgar Yang, Honorary Secretary General of SF&OC, on the history of SF&OC since its establishment in 1950 and the latest developments. This report included the upcoming multi-sports games scheduled for 2025 and 2026 as well as the progress of work to enhance the corporate governance level among member associations.
Both sides envisioned that more favourable conditions for local sports development could be created continuously through the collective efforts of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), SF&OC and member associations.
They also exchanged views on strengthening the training of sports talents through the Hong Kong, China Olympic Academy, promoting Olympism education and the pilot scheme on sports dispute resolution.
The 28th ANOC General Assembly will be held in Hong Kong in December 2026. Mr. Kenneth Fok, Chair of the ANOC GA Steering Committee and Vice President of SF&OC, provided Miss Law with updates on the preparatory work of the ANOC GA. The two sides had in-depth discussions on ways to enhance synergy between conferences, sports and tourism, aiming to consolidate Hong Kong’s position as a global hub by hosting international sports events.
Miss Law also toured Olympic House to learn about its facilities and usage by the National Sports Associations.
Mr. Timothy Fok, President of SF&OC, expressed gratitude for the HKSAR Government’s ongoing support for the sports community. He said: “The prosperous development of sports owes much to the proactive policies of the HKSAR Government in promoting sports. SF&OC will continue to work closely with the HKSAR Government and stakeholders to advance sport for all and enhance Hong Kong’s strengths through developing sports as an industry.”
