Hong Kong, China, July 16, 2025: The Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China kicked off the 2025-26 Greater Bay Area (GBA) Youth Sports Exchange Programme on Tuesday, July 15.
The programme began when the first delegation of around 90 members left Hong Kong for a four-day visit to Guangzhou, where they will engage in a series of exchange activities with Guangdong athletes.
The delegation is led by Ms. Fay Ho, Hon. Deputy Secretary General of the SF&OC, and comprises young athletes, coaches and team leaders from dancesport, dragon boat and rowing.
Over the four-day visit, they will participate in sports exchanges, joint training sessions and friendly matches with athletes from Guangdong Province.
Ms. Ho said: “Through this exchange programme, we aim to unite the Greater Bay Area. We hope this visit will deepen sports and cultural ties between the young athletes, foster mutual learning and encouragement, enhance their athletic skills and build lasting friendships.”
In addition to sports exchanges, the delegation will visit local cultural and sports facilities, including the Bai’etan Greater Bay Area Art Center and the Fok Ying Tung Memorial Hall, to deepen their understanding of Lingnan culture and foster a sense of national identity.
The SF&OC has been organising the GBA youth sports exchange programme since 2018, arranging for young athletes from Hong Kong to visit cities across the region to engage in sports exchanges and foster connections through sports.
The 2025-26 edition is jointly organised by SF&OC and the Guangdong Provincial Sports Federation. The next visit is scheduled to take place in December 2025.
