Kuwait City, Kuwait, July 15, 2025: The Olympic Council of Asia will hold an election for a new President at the next General Assembly in Tashkent, Uzbekistan in January 2026.
This move was decided at the 96th OCA Executive Board meeting held online on Tuesday, July 15.
The decision was taken due to the continued ill health of the current OCA President, Raja Randhir Singh, who was elected President at the 44th OCA General Assembly in New Delhi, India on September 8, 2024.
Raja Randhir, 78, has been unable to fulfill his duties as OCA President for several months, including the 45th General Assembly in Kuwait on May 11-12, 2025, resulting in the OCA Executive Board decision to hold an election for a new President to complete the current term of office through to 2028.
The First Vice President, Mr. Timothy Fok, President of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, has been standing in for the OCA President during this time.
The OCA Executive Board put on record their thanks and deep appreciation to Raja Randhir Singh for his leadership and will honour him with the title of Honorary Life President of the OCA.
Raja Randhir maintained the unity and solidarity of the OCA during some difficult times from 2019 through to the present, and oversaw two extremely successful multi-sport games – the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, and the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China.
The election of a new President will be added to the agenda for the next OCA General Assembly.
