Manila, Philippines, July 15, 2025: Filipino golfer Carl Jano Corpus was given an official reception by the Chairman of the Philippine Sports Commission, Pato Gregorio, at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila on Monday, July 14.
Corpus, 23, made headlines on the Asian golf circuit by winning the Asian Development Tour’s USD 125,000 Morocco Rising Stars Marrakech from June 26-29 at the Al Maaden Golf Resort in Marrakech, Morocco.
It was his first win in his sixth start as a professional and came in a field of 156 players.
Corpus, together with National Golf Association of the Philippines Secretary General Valeriano L. Floro II, met with the PSC Chairman to acknowledge the victory.
“I guess there's no better place to win this event - not just in a different country but in a whole different continent,” Corpus said.
Corpus represented the Philippines in the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2018, finishing tied for 16th in the boys’ event and tied for 20th in the mixed team with Jakarta Asian Games double gold medallist Yuka Saso.
The PSC - the government’s sports agency - said the future looked bright for Corpus and for golf in the Philippines following this breakout victory on the international stage.
