Sri Lanka NOC hosts awarding ceremony for national course directors

Colombo, Sri Lanka, July 10, 2025: The Awarding Ceremony for National Course Directors was held on Tuesday, July 8 at the Sri Lanka Olympic House, marking a significant milestone in NOC Sri Lanka’s ongoing efforts to elevate standards in sports governance and administration.

The National Course Director Training Programme, conducted under the auspices of Olympic Solidarity, is aimed at equipping senior sports administrators with the knowledge and skills required to deliver Sport Administrators’ Courses nationwide.

This long-overdue recognition was presented to individuals who had successfully completed the training programme in 2016, 2019, 2022 and, in some cases, even earlier.

The awardees honoured at the ceremony were: Group Captain (Retd.) Nalin de Silva, Mrs. Olivia Gamage, Prof. (Rear Admiral) Shemal Fernando, Major General (Retd.) Dampath Fernando, Mr. Akhry Ameer, Mr. Nishanthe Piyasena, Mr. D. Sameera Lakruwan Perera, Ms. M. K. A. Anoma Rathnayake and Mr. Sivarajah Gobinath.

The awards were presented by Mr. Suresh Subramaniam, President of NOC Sri Lanka; Mr. Rifdy Fahmy, Secretary General; and Vice Presidents Ms. Niloo Jayathilake and Mr. Deva Henry.

“This ceremony not only celebrated the professional accomplishments of these distinguished individuals but also reaffirmed NOC Sri Lanka’s unwavering commitment to enhancing sports administration through structured training, certification and national recognition,” Sri Lanka NOC said in a press release.
