Bhutan NOC launches ‘Junior Giants’ programme to identify tall talent

Thimphu, Bhutan, July 8, 2025: The Bhutan Olympic Committee has launched the "Junior Giants of Bhutan", a unique and visionary national sports programme designed to identify and train tall youth athletes from across the country.

This initiative launched on Monday, July 7 at the NOC Headquarters in Thimphu is the first of its kind, focusing exclusively on athletically gifted tall youth, and aiming to turn their height into an advantage across core sports like athletics, archery, basketball and volleyball.

The Junior Giants of Bhutan programme not only promotes physical diversity but also aligns with the broader mission of the BOC to develop future-ready athletes.

The inaugural camp from July 7-12 will include expert coaching, sports-specific training, talent identification and professional mentorship. It will offer these young giants an unprecedented opportunity to thrive in national and international sports.
