Baghdad, Iraq, July 8, 2025: The Chair of the Gender Equality Committee of the Iraq National Olympic Committee, Mrs. Leila Mohamed Amin, visited the governorates of Babylon and Diwaniyah to assess and support women’s sports.
During the visits, a number of important issues were looked into, including the reorganisation and activation of women’s teams, and ways to support them in cooperation with local governments.
The visit was widely welcomed by officials of the two provinces, who underlined its importance in being the first of its kind, and the significant role in highlighting the reality of female sports and its need for development.
The Chair of the Gender Equality Committee stressed the importance of continuing coordination and communication with local parties, especially with the president of the Girls’ Club in Halla, and the manager of women’s activities in Diwaniyah, so as to expand the base of women’s participation.
Accompanying Leila Amin on the field tour was NOC Executive Committee member Dr. Harda Raouf, and Financial Secretary of the Gender Equality Committee Muhammad Ayman.
