Iran NOC signs MoU with Hungary for sports cooperation

Tehran, Iran, July 6, 2025: The National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Hungarian Olympic Committee have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation in the field of sports.

Following an invitation from Zsolt Gyulay, President of the Hungarian Olympic Committee, the Secretary General of the Iran NOC, Dr. Mahdi Alinejad, visited the Hungarian NOC Headquarters in Budapest to sign the MoU.

The meeting was also attended by Farid Fattahian, advisor to the Iran NOC President Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa.

Dr. Alinejad spoke on Iran’s sporting strengths and expressed readiness to host joint training camps and friendly matches. Furthermore, the Iran NOC Secretary General emphasised the need for Iranian sports federations to cooperate with their Hungarian counterparts, particularly in disciplines where Hungary has a high level of expertise.

In reply, the Hungarian NOC President acknowledged Iran’s strong potential in certain sports and expressed interest in organising joint training camps.

On the sidelines of the visit, Dr. Alinejad also met with the Iranian Ambassador to Hungary, Morteza Moradian, and expressed appreciation of the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Iranian Ambassadors around the world for their continued support and cooperation with Iranian sports delegations attending international events.

The Iranian Ambassador welcomed the signing of the MoU, and voiced his support for the development of sport in both countries.
