Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, April 12, 2020: Timur Kulibayev, President of the Kazakhstan National Olympic Committee, has sent a congratulatory message to the country’s famous boxer Gennadiy Golovkin on his birthday on April 8.
Kulibayev praised Golovkin, often known by his nickname ‘GGG’ or 'Triple G’, for being an inspiration to the “young generation” of Kazakhstan athletes and fans.
“On behalf of the entire Kazakhstan sports community and on my own behalf, please accept our sincere congratulations on your birthday.
“You are the most recognisable boxer from Kazakhstan, a symbol of the national school of boxing, an example for thousands of children who are passionate about this sport. Your success, purposefulness and diligence continue to inspire the young generation of Kazakhstan athletes and fans of sport,” Kulibayev said.
The Kazakhstan NOC President added: “We are grateful for your sincere love for your country, which you have always demonstrated throughout your brilliant sporting career.
“I wish you good health, long life, happiness and prosperity to your family. Let good luck accompany you in everything.”
Golovkin, who turned 38 on Friday, holds the IBF and IBO middleweight titles. He won a gold medal at the 2003 World Championships in the middleweight division and silver medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics. He also won gold at the 2002 Busan Asian Games. He turned professional in 2006 and has a 40-wins, 1-loss, 1-draw record.
